Don't you love the start of a fresh new year? There's just something so cleansing... putting away the excesses of the holiday season and getting back to the business of everyday life. October and November were my busiest months since I started my business and boy did I work with some amazing clients. I also delved quite heavily into the Planner World Subculture, and learned tons of new things... like how much of a subculture it is, with Etsy shops and Facebook pages and Ins
So I announced on Facebook last week that I was "diving headfirst" into cleaning out our upstairs hallway linen closet. Several things have been determined since then: 1. If I had known how quickly this was going to proceed, I would have done it months ago. 2. If I had really known how crappy that linen closet looked, I probably wouldn't have announced that I was redoing it to the world, thereby forcing my hand to actually post pictures of what I started with. 3. Everyone struggles with bookcases: what to put in them, how to make them look balanced, how to incorporate personal pieces with decorative items, how to make them look not bare but not overstuffed, how many pictures vs. books vs. other collected items. I'm really proud of my home office and my pantry, and will show you those spaces someday in their entirety. But. But I also have some spaces that have been a thorn in my side since we moved into this house five and a half years ag
I worked on a great, quick, satisfying project recently. A new client contacted me, fresh from purchasing a new set of gorgeous Portmeirion dishes, and was looking for help styling them inside her hutch. She had a few other pieces that she wanted to incorporate into the hutch, some that were merely decorative and others that had deep sentimental value. Goals: arrange the dishes so they looked pleasing to the eye with the hutch doors open OR closed and were easy to access...
Right before Thanksgiving, I had the opportunity to refresh a client's home office space. It had beautiful bones: a large, rectangular room with a whole wall of gorgeous built-in bookcases, hardwood flooring, and crown molding. The office was a mix of adult space and kids' play space and the goal was just to minimize the kids' toys while refreshing the bookshelves with some new accent pieces. Hours of work: 3, plus two hours pre-session for shopping Garbage bags tossed: 2 T
I had the pleasure of working on and finishing a great garage project this week! Goals: go through all the boxes and bags, keep important items and purge the rest; make a neat pile for a Spring garage sale; place remaining items in covered, labelled bins; make each bin easy to manage, size and weight- wise. Total Time: 9 hours Total Garbage bags to the dump: 15 Here are the before pics: Back Wall- 2 shelving units Close up- left shelving unit Close up- right shelving unit Lef
